When to call the vet
We recommend that you call the vet promptly if your pet:
-
has a gaping wound, or wound which is bleeding continuously.
-
has had an accident or fall where you suspect bones may be broken or tails injured.
-
is vomiting repeatedly (particularly if he/she is very young or elderly).
-
has severe or bloody diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is generally less serious than vomiting, except in kittens.
-
has swallowed a foreign object or eaten something you suspect is poisonous.
-
has been stung or bitten.
-
has been badly burnt.
-
is having difficulty breathing or breathing rapidly, particularly if they are breathing with an open mouth or coughing continuously.
-
appears to be in severe pain or discomfort. The most common symptoms of these in a pet are: weakness, panting or dribbling.
-
suddenly has difficulty with balance or appears weak, or is reluctant to get up.
-
is trying to urinate or defecate but is unable to do so.
ALWAYS Have your vet's number to hand in the case of an emergency and make sure you give these to others looking after your animals while you are away. Call if you are in any doubt.
Our Services
Nurse Clinics
We offer free consultations with on e of our qualified veterinary nurses (RVM). These nurse clinics are by appointment only and include weight checks, flea and worm checks, nail clips, as well as aftercare such as bandage changes and stitch removal. Call to book an appointment.
Hospitalisation
Comfortable, secure,clean housing if your pet has to board with us for fluid therapy or ongoing medical care
First opinion vet consultations
We have an experienced and caring team of vets, nurses and receptionists providing everything you could look for to secure the health and happiness of your pet.
Surgery
We have a dedicated operating theatre and practice gold standard anaesthestia for a wide range of surgical procedures including: neutering, lump removal, abdominal surgery, orthapedics and eye surgery. We use up to date equipment for monitoring such as pulse oximeters and ECGs, as well as a dedicated nurse. Some problems with anaesthesia can occur because of underlying disease that is not readily detectable by examination. For this reason we would suggest that your pet undergo a blood test BEFORE undergoing anaesthesia.
Diagnostics
Labs - State of the art blood machine, results available in less than 30 minutes.
X-Ray - We can take and develop x-rays on site and plan to go digital in the near future.
Ultrasound - A wide range of uses when looking at the soft tissues in the body; we can diagnose pregnancy, look into problems within the abdomen and obtain biopsies using ultrasonography.

Endoscopy
Eye pressure monitor.
Dental Care
All dental procedures done under anaesthetic
Products
Food - We sell a wide range of prescription only veterinary diets targetted for animals with specific conditions. We also stock a range of top quality diets for normal, healthy animals.
Accesories - We have a range of accessories for your pet, come see our range in the practice. Soon to be available online.
Out of hours emergency service
We have a 24 hour emergency service provided by our own vets.
About
The practice has been based at the Milford Farm site for over 20 years and is currently in the process of being renovated and refurbished. We are a modern annd dynamic practice and have plans to invest in a new operating theatre and kennel room in the near future.
