24 hour emergency cover by our own experienced farm vets

Whether you've got a sick animal, or are in need of a calving, we have experienced farm animal vets based in the local area who are on hand 24 hours a day to attend as quickly as possible.

Routine fertility visits

Our routine fertility programme provides a personal service from one of our dedicated farm vets. Monthly visits (no visit charge) are charged on time and allow us to confirm pregnancy and tackle problem cows earlier, maximising productivity and profitability for the farm.

Herd health planning/ farm consultancy

Whether to meet compliance with an assurance scheme, or as a farm audit to tackle specific herd issues, Bakewell Veterinary Clinic can provide a tailored health plan to suit your needs. We also offer a range of herd accreditation schemes for diseases such as BVD, IBR, Johnes, Lepto and Maedi Visna. Ask to speak to one of our dedicated farm vets for more information.

Competitive drug prices

Due to the increasing pressure of internet pharmacies we are now offering medication for livestock at competitive prices. These medicines can be collected 24 hours a day. Email us for a price list.

Free telephone advice

Our team of experienced vets and reception staff are on hand 24 hours a day to answer your queries.

Bull/ram fertility testing

Over 20% of bulls in the UK are now sub-fertile. We offer a bull and ram fertility test using electro-ejaculation which is non-invasive and can be done on site with immediate results.

TB testing

Animals being moved out of a 2 yearly (or less) testing parish must now be pre-movement tested. Remember to give us plenty of notice when booking your routine or pre-movement tests as we can get quite busy during certain times of the year.

We try to offer a range of interesting and informative meetings held either by our own vets or external speakers.

The Bakewell Veterinary Clinic has been providing farm animal services for more than 100 years.

Our team of experienced farm animal vets are on hand 24 hours a day for emergency calls or advice.

We are dedicated to working closely with our farms to improve their productivity and herd health status through farmer meetings, routine fertility visits, farm consultancy and herd health planning.

Most of our clinical work is with cattle and sheep, however, we have the expertise to cater for the wide diversity of farm animal species found in the Peak District; poultry, pigs, camelids, buffalo, goats and even the odd ostrich.
